The early 1980s marked the beginning
of a golden age for Santiago de Compostela in terms of the University-
a growing number of fields were offering more and more degrees;
there was an improvement in the infrastructure and initiatives to
promote culture were undertaken. Tens of thousands of students from
all different parts of Spain and a myriad of other countries began
to flock to Santiago to study, filling the streets of this beautiful
city day and night.
It was within this framework that the Román Ulloa Family
decided to establish Casa Román,
an enterprise, whose aim from the very start, was to meet the needs
of a student population whose increasing demand for comfort and
quality in room and board was being felt more and more each day.
To provide students with all the comforts of home away from home,
with everything they might possibly need, so that they tend only
to their studies and be able to enjoy their free time, without having
to worry about cooking or cleaning. Casa Román has all the facilities
for this –a restaurant, a network of residence halls and apartments,
located in the heart Santiago’s new district. Hotel and restaurant
professionals are in charge of all the maintenance and cleaning.
Our efforts have been rewarded by the steady growth of the business
–our initial offer of 16 beds has expanded to 300 today, and
what is even more important is that we are able to boast a satisfied
clientele and a reputation of prestige in the area. This is the
best proof of a job well done.
